HomewardBound Hosts the Coldest Night of the Year 2024

HOMEWARDBOUND OF THE GRAND VALLEY HOSTING THE COLDEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR 5K

Grand Junction, Colorado - On February 24th, 2024, the Grand Junction community is invited to take part in The Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY), a 5K to raise funds and awareness for those experiencing hunger and homelessness. This is the first and only CNOY event in Colorado– designed to allow walkers the experience of what it might feel like to be houseless and have to spend the night out in the cold.

Grand Junction is one of 190 communities participating across North America. Teams of walkers will complete a 5K or 2K loop route starting at Las Colonias Park, west of the Butterfly Pond, and traveling along the Riverside Trail. After the walk, participants will be served a soup kitchen-style meal, courtesy of Showstoppers Pizza and Bakery, to warm them up before heading home.

Walkers will collect pledges as they work to raise awareness for issues surrounding houselessness in our community.  Funds raised will go to benefit HomewardBound of the Grand Valley and its vision to eliminate the unwanted condition of homelessness in the Grand Valley. Participants who raise over $150 (or $75 for youth walkers) will earn the CNOY signature toque - a warm winter hat, as a gift for their hard work and support of those in our community who need it most.

Registration for The Coldest Night of the Year is free. Check-in starts at 4:00 PM with a 5:00 PM start. Learn more, donate, or sign up to walk at cnoy.com/GrandJunction, and remember– it’s cold out there.
